How does mobile number portability work?
Mobile Number Portability (MNP) is a process in which you can retain your existing number and switch your network to Vodafone. Porting mobile number to the Vodafone network is easy and hassle-free. The TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) takes up to 6-7 days to make the switch from your current operator to Vodafone. On the day of the switch, you will be informed about your current number being deactivated while your new number will be activated after midnight. If you are a Vodafone Prepaid customer who plans to switch to Vodafone Postpaid, your remaining balance will be credited to your Postpaid number in advance. Moreover, the validity of your recharge pack will be discontinued. Once you send the porting request, a UPC code is generated and sent to your existing mobile number. The Unique Porting Code is valid for 15 days and a new code can be generated again after 15 days. To complete your KYC process for Mobile Number Portability, your original proof of address (POA), proof of identity (POI) documents or Aadhaar Card will be required.
